He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of plastic surgery. After completing his post graduation in plastic surgery from GMC, Patiala, he has been associated with prestigious institutes like CMC&Hospital Ludhiana, PGIMS Rohtak and After completing his post graduation in plastic surgery from GMC, Patiala, he has been associated with prestigious institutes like CMC&Hospital Ludhiana, PGIMS Rohtak and also travelling fellowships in craniofacial and microsurgery from the Yales university, institute for craniofacial surgery, Michigan and ear nose throat hospital New York, USA. He is smile train accredited cleft surgeon. He is the founder , head of department of plastic surgery in Amandeep hospital and clinics, Amritsar. He has 28 years of teaching experience and has DNB candidates currently training under him . He is an academically sound surgeon with , over 13 publications in national and international journals. He has authored as well as reviewed chapters on limb reconstruction in plastic surgery textbooks. He has delivered three orations at national plastic surgery conferences and more than 30 guest lectures in various meets. He has also organized various national conferences in Amritsar, and conducts regular invited guest lectures in the department. He is a National board of examinations accredited post graduate teacher.

Observership

  • Observerships in reconstructive and trauma micro surgery and cleft surgery is offered for all interested candidates from 2 -4 weeks for national as well as international surgeons.
  • Under Dr.Ravi Mahajan, Amandeep hospital and clinics is a very academically oriented institute. We offer the DNB course with one candidate per year . We have also had in past one year maxillofacial fellowships and observerships in micro vascular surgery.
  • Academic sessions consist of daily morning academic discussions and regular journal club along with case presentations by the DNB candidates once a week. There are also weekly grand rounds and intra departmental morbidity meets , which make learning an ongoing process for everyone. Supervised hands on training for the DNB trainees ( including micro vascular anastomosis and flap harvests) forms a part of their curriculum.
  • Trainees are also encouraged to attend national and regional conferences and present papers , under hospital sponsored education programme.
