Psychology Counselling is the scientific study of human behaviour and experience. It is an umbrella term that encompasses the interaction of biological, cognitive, social, cultural, and other aspects of human behaviour.
Psychologists apply the scientific method to understand the role of mental functions in individual and social behaviour. Professional scientists perform experiments and carefully observe human behaviour, record data, analyse results, identify patterns and draw conclusions that lay a foundation for further study in behavioural therapy, child counselling, corporate psychology and sports psychology.
Psychologists are involved in research on perception, cognition, attention, emotion, intelligence, subjective experiences, motivation, brain functioning and personality. Psychologists’ interests extend to interpersonal relationships, psychological resilience and family resilience. They also consider the unconscious mind as well as dreams.
