Introduction

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Amandeep Hospital is a critical care unit that functions round-the-clock to provide immediate medical attention to patients with life-threatening conditions. With a high patient load, advanced infrastructure, and an academic focus, the department plays a pivotal role in postgraduate training and holistic development of DNB Emergency Medicine students.

Learning Objectives

Our postgraduate program is designed to equip trainees with:

  • Proficiency in rapid assessment, diagnosis, and management of medical, surgical, paediatric, and trauma emergencies
  • Competence in life-saving procedures and use of emergency diagnostics
  • Ability to lead resuscitation, trauma codes, and disaster responses

Clinical Exposure

The department handles an average daily footfall of [X] patients across all specialties. Trainees gain direct experience in:

  • Adult and paediatric medical emergencies
  • Polytrauma and road traffic injuries
  • Cardiovascular emergencies including myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest

  • Toxicological and environmental emergencies
  • Obstetric and gynaecological emergencies
  • Triage protocols and emergency response systems

  • Dedicated 25–30 bedded Emergency Unit
  • Triage and resuscitation bays
  • Paediatric, trauma, and isolation zones
  • 24×7 diagnostic support: CT scan, portable X-ray, ultrasound, ABG, ECG
  • Procedure room equipped for intubation, central line insertion, thoracostomy, and minor surgical interventions

  • Simulation-based training: Code Blue drills, airway workshops, FAST ultrasound, ACLS/BLS/ATLS courses
