Dr Santokh Singh is an Ex. Principal of the Government Medical College, Amritsar. In December 1997, he completed his MBBS from the Govt. Medical College/GND University, Amritsar. Then, he earned his MD in Medicine in December 1984 from the same college.
Subsequently, he pursued the WHO Fellowship (Observer fellow) in Gastroenterology & Hepatology in 1998. The fellowship was under UIHC Iowa, USA & Baylor College of Houston, USA.
Dr Singh has rich experience in the academic and administrative field spanning nearly three decades. He has a combined experience of 28 years 9 months in UG and PG teaching. Plus, he has 13 years 10 months of experience as a Professor. After serving as a Registrar of Medicine from 1983 to 1985, he taught as a Senior Lecturer from 1987 to 1993 at Govt. Medical College, Amritsar.
Following that, Dr Santokh assumed the role of Assistant Professor from 1993 to 2002 in the same college. He acted as the Head of the Medicine Department from 2006 to 2016. He also held the position of Principal in the same institute from 2014 to 2015.
Known for his administrative expertise, Dr Santokh served as the Chairman of the integrated teaching of the institute and the thesis committee of the Govt. Medical College, Amritsar. Furthermore, he became a Nodal Officer at ART Plus Center (catering to the maximum number of HIV patients in Punjab).
Dr Singh is the author of six book chapters and 30 publications in national & international journals. He has various additional research activities to his credit. This includes acting as a Co-Principal Investigator in the INSPIRE Study under St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore. Moreover, he has extensively guided more than 30 postgraduate students. Dr Singh has been a recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including the 'Award of Oration', WHO Fellowship, Fellow Indian College of Physicians (FICP), etc. Presently, Dr Santokh Singh is practising as a Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist & Internal Medicine at Amandeep Medicity, Amritsar.
