With a legacy of innovation and excellence, the plastic surgery department at Amandeep Hospital continues to redefine reconstructive and aesthetic care in the region. The department now offers comprehensive services, covering trauma reconstruction, microvascular and super microsurgery, maxillofacial and cleft surgery, post cancer reconstruction, post-burn reconstruction, brachial plexus surgery, hand surgery, and aesthetic surgery, firmly establishing itself as a center of excellence in plastic surgery.

It was established in January 2002 by Dr. Ravi K. Mahajan, a distinguished plastic surgeon after having worked as conultant plastic surgeon and head of the department at PGIMS Rohtak and CMC Ludhiana for more than a decade.

Under his leadership, the department became a pioneer in the region, introducing microvascular surgery services, including replantations and microvascular tissue transfer. Over the years, the department has expanded significantly. Now comprising of six full-time qualified plastic surgeons, one maxillofacial surgeon, and three DNB senior residents.

Milestones include the establishment of the Smile Train Project in 2004, which has provided more than 8000 free surgeries for cleft lip and palate patients, supported by in-house speech therapy and orthodontic services. A specialized Burn Unit was added in 2006, enhancing care for acute burn patients. At the time of establishment we were the only one in the Punjab and adjacent region to have comprehensive burns care.

In 2009, The department was accredited by the National Board of Examinations of Govt. of India for DNB (Plastic Surgery) program, training seven candidates to date, alongside mentoring 22 clinical assistants who now practice across the country, with several promoted as consultants within the department.

A separate wing for cosmetic surgery and laser treatments, RM Aesthetics, was inaugurated in 2011 to cater to non-surgical and surgical cosmetic needs. Recently, an advanced foot care and wound care center, Feel Foot, has been introduced, featuring a diabetic foot clinic staffed by podiatrists, orthotists, and prosthetists.A multispeciality cancer was established in Feb 2004 including cancer surgery,Medical oncology and Radiation Oncology.The department of plastic Surgery is providing Post cancer Reconstruction Services,particularly Head and Neck Reconstruction, to the cancer patients thus helping them to lead a normal life after surgery.
