About

CVCs, or central venous catheters, are used to deliver blood, fluid, medication, or nutrition. These can also be useful for monitoring and performing certain procedures and tests.
Chemoport: It is a small device, usually round in shape, that is implanted under the skin, in the chest. These are primarily used for patients undergoing chemotherapy. It prevents frequent needle sticks and stays in place for long-term treatment.
PERM Cath (Permanent Catheter): It is a tunnelled CVC with an external segment for access. It has two tubes for different access points. It is often used for long-term hemodialysis or plasmapheresis. This requires regular cleaning and dressing to prevent infection.
PICC Line (peripherally inserted central catheter): This is a long and thin catheter that is inserted through a vein in the arm and advanced to a central vein near the heart. It is often used for long-term Intravenous therapy like antibiotics, chemotherapy or TPN ( Total Parental Nutrition).
