DrNB Plastic Surgery
The department of Plastic Surgery was recognised by National Board Of Examinations for DrNB (Plastic Surgery) in the year 2009 and at present the department is accredited for two seats every year. Until now nine candidates have been taken up for the course.
FNB Hand & Micro Vascular Surgery
The department of plastic surgery is accredited by the National Board of Examinations for one seat of fellowship in Hand and Micro Vascular Surgery. The Candidates who have done MS Orthopaedics, MS General Surgery and MCh Plastic Surgery are elligible to apply. The fellowship was started in the year 2024 and at present we have one candidate doing fellowship with us.
Post MCh Clinical Fellowship
The department of plastic surgery offers one year post MCh clinical fellowship in the department of plastic surgery where the candidates get enough opportunity to have hands on in Micro Vascular Surgery, Hand Surgery, Cleft Surgery, General Plastic Surgery and good exposure to Aesthetic Surgery. The clinical fellowship was started in the year 2005 and till now 22 Plastic Surgeons from differents parts of the country have done the fellowship and are practising successfully at their respective places.
Observership
The department of plastic surgery offers observerships ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months in the fields of reconstructive micro surgery and Cleft & Maxillofacial Surgery. Many plastic surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons from different parts of the surgery as well as abroad have done observership with us.
For the benefit of DrNB & FNB residents, clinical fellows and observers regular academic activities are carried out in the department. Academic sessions consist of daily morning academic discussions and regular journal club along with case presentations by the residents once a week. There are also weekly grand rounds and intra departmental morbidity meets, which make learning an ongoing process for everyone. Supervised hands on training for the trainees forms a part of their curriculum.
Trainees are also encouraged to attend national and regional conferences and present papers, under hospital sponsored education programme.

Academic Activities Of The Department
The department of plastic surgery is very active academically and has produced a number of international and national publications in addition to contributing book chapters in plastic surgery textbooks. The department faculty regularly participates in various national, international and regional conferences presenting papers, guest lectures and orations. The department has organized a number of national and regional conferences and workshops at Amritsar. Dr. Ravi Mahajan head department of plastic surgery has held a number of leadership positons in various plastic surgery societies and associations.
